About me:
I am of Northern Irish and Russian Jewish descent and was born and raised on the unceded homelands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tseil-Wauthuth nations (Vancouver, BC).
As a therapist, I specialize in trauma (everything from PTSD to growing up in a dysfunctional family); sex therapy; incorporating body awareness; and really getting to the heart or root of an issue so that deep, fundamental transformation can occur. I am direct but dedicated to creating a supportive, loving and warm environment.
Before focusing on mental health and clinical counseling, I spent many years as a community organizer and facilitator, engaging participants around issues of anti-oppression and social justice. I also spent 5 years doing interactive theatre with queer and trans youth and am passionate about work that explores sexual and gender identity. I have been able to continue my education in this field through my ongoing Sex Therapy training.
It is important to me to understand the connections between the violence done to the land we live on, the historical displacement and oppression of people, and how trauma manifests in both individuals and society- currently and through the generations.
